Enhancing the Research and Cognitive Skills of Third-Year Students through the Project Method in Kazakh Language Teaching Methodology Based on the Action Research Approach
On 9 December 2025, the Faculty of Philology hosted a presentation of professional and cognitive journals prepared by students within the framework of the topic `Enhancing the research and cognitive skills of third-year students through the project method in Kazakh language teaching methodology based on the Action Research approach.` The event was organized at a high academic level under the supervision of Dr. Raigul Saduakasqyzy Rakhmetova, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences and Associate Professor of the Department of Kazakh Language Theory and Teaching Methods, and Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Aytjamal Qalkenqyzy Rauandina. Active participation in the preparation and presentation of the projects was also demonstrated by Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences Meruert Alibaeva, who conducts seminar sessions for the course `Methodology of Teaching Kazakh Language,` and PhD holder Zhaidar Belasarova. The Action Research–based study conducted in the course `Methodology of Teaching Kazakh Language` consisted of two stages. In the first stage, students compiled a set of tasks for different school grades in accordance with the model general education curriculum. This work was carried out in pairs. In the second stage, the research was implemented in group format through the development of a professional and cognitive journal. Out of eleven groups majoring in Kazakh Language and Literature, the jury selected one best journal for the final stage. During the final round, all eleven journals competed against one another. The evaluation of the students’ journals was conducted by the Dean of the Faculty of Philology, A.V. Tanjarykova; the Head of the Department of Kazakh Language Theory and Teaching Methods, N.A. Ilyasova; representatives of the Serik Qirabayev Department of Kazakh Literature and Teaching Methods — B.T. Qabatai, Associate Professor E.S.Кassen, Associate Professor B. Moldagaly; lecturer Inkar Mälikqyzy; and fourth-year student S.Еgemqul. The Director of the Education Management School of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, Professor Ayman Ezhenkhanqyzy Berikhanova, highly praised the students’ research work, noting the significance of applying the Action Research approach in the professional preparation of future educators.
According to the jury’s decision, first place was awarded to Group 301 (`Ñöñ` Journal); second place — to Group 305 (`Shamshyraq` Journal) and Group 309 (`Tör` Journal); and third place — to Group 304 (`JAÑA ÚRPAQ` Journal), Group 303 (`Tanym` Journal), and Group 308 (`Qadam` Journal). All students who participated in the journal development process received author’s textbooks from Raigul Saduakasqyzy and Aytjamal Qalkenqyzy.
