Scientific Seminar on the Attestation of Doctoral Research Works
On January 16, 2026, a scientific seminar was organized by the Department of Preschool Education and Social Pedagogy of the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University. The seminar was held for the purpose of attesting the research work of doctoral students enrolled in the educational program “8D01201 - Preschool Education and Upbringing”.The main objective of the scientific seminar was to examine the relevance of the doctoral dissertations within the contemporary educational landscape, analyze the clarity of the research object and subject, assess the validity of methodological foundations, and provide methodological support for improving the logical structure of research works.The seminar was opened with a welcoming address by the Head of the Department, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Ulbosyn Kyyakbaeva. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of step-by-step planning of doctoral research activities, highlighting the necessity of a well-justified research topic, clear formulation of research goals and objectives, as well as the interconnection between scientific novelty and practical significance. She also noted that doctoral research must be carried out in accordance with the university-approved roadmap for dissertation completion.The Chair of the scientific seminar, PhD, Acting Associate Professor Anar Alimbekova, during the discussion of doctoral research projects, emphasized the importance of structural integrity and content coherence of dissertations. She particularly stressed that clarity of research methodology, sound theoretical grounding, and alignment of research methods with the stated objectives are key indicators of the quality of scientific work.During the seminar, first-year doctoral students underwent attestation in accordance with the dissertation roadmap and presented reports on the planned stages and current progress of their research activities.Second- and third-year doctoral students presented the content of their dissertation research and introduced the results of their completed scientific work to the members of the scientific seminar. Specifically, second-year doctoral students presented the content of the first and second chapters of their dissertations, including theoretical and methodological foundations, while third-year doctoral students presented the overall structure of the dissertation, key research findings, conclusions, and practical significance of the study.Throughout the scientific discussion, close attention was given to the alignment of doctoral research topics with current demands of the modern preschool education system, their theoretical and practical relevance, as well as the possibilities for implementing research results in educational practice. Participants expressed scholarly opinions and provided specific recommendations aimed at improving the quality of the dissertations.The scientific seminar served as an important academic platform for analyzing the interim results of doctoral research activities, clarifying research directions, and ensuring the continued high-quality development of dissertation projects. As a result of the seminar, doctoral students were given recommendations for further improvement of their research work, and tasks for the next stage were clearly defined.
