«Kazakh zhogary biliminin kara shaniraguynndaguy S. Asfendiarovtyn tulgalik kelbetі»

To the 90th anniversary of our university on 26 February, 2018 M.Gabdullin Center «Tulgatanu» held an event dedicated to a prominent political and public figure, the first rector of our university, Professor Sanjar Asfendiarov.

Sanjar Jafarovich Asfendiarov was born on 20 October 1889 in Tashkent. In 1907, he graduated from the Tashkent real school, and in 1912, he graduated from the St. Petersburg Military Medical Academy.

In 1928, he was one of the founders of the Kazakh Pedagogical Institute (today - Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University).

Sanzhar Asfendiyarov was fluent in Russian, English, French, Latin and Eastern languages.

In 1937, he was arrested in Moscow and transported to Almaty, where he was kept in a temporary detention facility. On 25 February, 1938 in Almaty at the exit session of the board of the Supreme Court of the USSR was sentenced to death.

By decision of the Supreme Court of the USSR of 26 May, 1958 S.D. Asfendiyarov was rehabilitated.

Historians-sanzharovedy, laureate of the M.Auezov Prize, researcher of the Institute of History and Ethnology named after Sh.Valikhanov - A.A. Zhunisbayev, winner of the Daryn Award N.B. Mankeev presented reports. Students and teachers of the institutes of history, philology and pedagogy showed great interest.
