Journey in the world of minerals

On April 10, 2023 within the Decade of Science of Abai KazNPU teachers of Geography and Ecology Department of Institute of Natural Sciences and Geography D.M. Borankulova and A.N. Beikitova conducted event on the theme "Journey to the world of minerals" and together with the 1st year students of the major "6B01515-Geography" visited Satpayev History Museum and Mineralogical Laboratory of K.I. Satbaev KazNTU in Almaty.

The purpose is to learn about the types of minerals, areas of distribution, properties, etc. on the subject "The basics of geology and geomorphology", to complement the acquired knowledge about the features and to introduce the types of minerals of Kazakhstan. Chief specialist of the museum Umirbek Aspandiyar gave comprehensive information about biography, researches, scientific works of outstanding geologist K.I.Satpayev and his followers and pupils.

The museum has a collection of minerals from all over the world and from Kazakhstan. Geologist Saltanat Asubayeva demonstrated the composition of ore minerals using a modern microscope. Students improved their geological and geomorphological knowledge.
