Environmental education at Abai KazNPU

 

Today, the issues of environmental protection and training of specialists in this sphere have become the most acute. The developing ecological-educational environment is understood as a system of conditions for formation and development of personality in social and spatial-subject environment. The educational environment can be considered both in a broad and narrow sense. In a narrow sense it is the environment of an educational institution (university educational environment), in a broad sense it is the educational space of a district, city, region, etc.

 

The peculiarity of the development educational environment of Abai KazNPU is pedagogical and educational activities in the subject-spatial environment, in the system of social relations which have been formed in the university. The elements of the environment are the academic building, departments, specialized rooms, laboratories, equipment, the site of the university, as well as the content of academic subjects, which determines the saturation of the environment with educational resources.

 

The principles of organizing a developing eco-educational environment are various tools. Previously, the university had carried out landscaping of its departments and a number of sites in Almaty. The next step was the spatial filling of the academic building of IHE with ecological content, namely posters calling for careful attitude to natural resources. For example, of the following nature:

Let`s protect the environment! We have a responsibility to protect nature and prevent climate change!

 

What can you do? The answer is simple: plant more trees to save energy and clean the air; use reusable bags when buying food; help others understand the value of natural resources; learn how to reduce household waste, reuse unnecessary items and promote this knowledge and skill.

 

The creation of educational resources enhances the developmental potential of the educational environment. When teaching staff and students interact in a developmental educational environment, conditions are created to meet their needs that motivate educational activities. So, students of 4th year of "Ecology" specialty of Institute of Natural sciences and Geography under direction of professor K.Sh.Bakirova (Ecoclub "Ayala") prepared and put up thematic posters in academic building №1 (30, Kazbek bi) for ecologization of spatial and subject matter environment in order to make developing educational environment effective.

 

This didactic system is aimed at formation of student as a subject of learning activity, willing and able to learn, interested in self-transformation. Providing conditions for student`s transformation into a subject of educational activity is the goal of developmental education, which is fundamentally different from the goals of a traditional university - to prepare a student to perform certain functions in the social life of the university.
