The 78th scientific conference of undergraduate and graduate students took place Department of Geography and Ecology of the Institute of Natural History and Geography

On November 17, 2023, the Department of Geography and Ecology of the Institute of Natural Sciences and Geography took an active part in the annual scientific conference of undergraduate and graduate students. The traditional event was held for the 78th time.

According to the university programme of the conference 16 students of 3-4 courses of specialties "6B05202-Ecology", "6B05203-Geography", "6B01705-Russian language and literature in schools with non-Russian language of instruction" took part in the work of sections "Environment and green economy" with reports on actual problems and directions of ecology, economy and sustainable development. Among them - the consequences of climate change on water resources for the countries of Central Asia and Kazakhstan, assessment of the environmental condition of the river Karatal, the impact of heavy metals on human health, the environmental condition of drinking water in Mangistau region, the importance of introducing the concept of "green office" by studying the infrastructure of Abai KazNPU, the potential of renewable energy sources in the sustainable development of Almaty region, the environmental activities of university students as an important factor of sustainable development, the effectiveness of the use of renewable energy sources in the sustainable development of the Almaty region, and the effectiveness of the use of renewable energy sources. The reports on such issues as environmental activities of students of Abai KazNPU as an important factor of sustainable development, the potential of renewable energy sources in the sustainable development of Almaty region and the impact of climate change on water resources were of particular interest to the participants.

The moderators of the sections "Ecology and Green Economy" were Professor Daria Dzhusupova and Senior Lecturer Zhanar Kaldybaeva. The conference was attended by teachers and students. All participants gave a positive assessment of the conference and adopted recommendations on its results. The event was well evaluated, recommendations were adopted and winners were identified.

Thus, the 1st place was taken by the 4th year student of specialty "6В05202-Ecology" Zhumagali Nazerke, with the topic of the report " Environmental activities of students of Abai KazNPU as an important factor of sustainable development".
