Excursion "My native land"

On April 14, 2024, within the framework of the Decade of Science of Abai KazNPU, teachers of the Department of Geography and Ecology of the Institute of Natural Sciences and Geography, Associate Professor Irkitbaev Saken Nurkaidarovich, Senior Lecture, Master Savanchiyeva Armanay Sagatbayevna and Senior Lecture, Master Aliyev Muratbek Duysenovich conducted a bus tour "My native land" with students of 2-3 courses of the minor program "Tourist and excursion management": 6B01703-Foreign language: two foreign languages, 6B01701-Kazakh language and literature, 6B01704-Kazakh language and literature in schools with non-Kazakh language of instruction in the discipline "Geography of tourist sites of Kazakhstan" on the sights of Almaty and Zhetysu regions.

The tour was conducted along the route Almaty-Konaev-Saryozek-Koktal-Zharkent-Architectural and Art Museum "Zharkent mosque"-Aulie agash-Shelek-Almaty in order to get acquainted with the natural, historical and cultural sights of Almaty and Zhetysu regions. During the tour, the students visited the Kapshagai reservoir, saw the Kapshagai hydroelectric power station named after Sh.Chokin, wind farms and solar panels for generating solar energy in the city of Konaev. Then the students got acquainted with the unique architectural monument of the XIX century, the main attraction of the city of Zharkent, the Architectural and Art Museum "Zharkent Mosque", which looks like a Buddhist temple. The mosque complex includes a juma mosque, a small mosque, a main entrance gate, a side entrance gate and a stone fence. Saturated colors, wood carvings, Arabic script, images of birds and animals, still lifes are the features of the mosque`s decor. There are also exhibition halls where models of mausoleums of Kazakhstan are presented, as well as antique household items. Next, the students made wishes near the sacred Aulie agash tree.This is a unique elm with a girth of 6.5 meters. Along the route, the students saw many more objects of the Almaty and Zhetysu regions: the Arkharly Pass, the Koibyn basalt deposit, one of the largest production enterprises, the ALACEM cement plant.
