Using new methods in mapping

On December 11, 2019, at the Institute of Geography and Natural Sciences, at the Department of Geography, Ecology and Tourism, there was held a training seminar by Sorbonne University professor Clarisse Didelon Loiseau and Julien Thorez.

The main goal of the seminar was to get acquainted with GIS technology using the Magrit application (http://magrit.cnrs.fr/). This application is a thematic cartographic software, where conventional cartographic methods are used in combination with innovative methods (proportional symbols, cartogram, gap map, smoothed map, grid map, etc.). This application also accepts many input formats, which makes it possible to compile geographical maps and use them both in your own research and in teaching students.

As a result of the seminar, professors and teachers of the department expressed great gratitude to foreign colleagues who shared such interesting and useful information in the matter of compiling maps.
