How to become a judge? Meeting with a judge of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan

On 6 April 2022, as part of the Decade of Science, the Department of Jurisprudence of the Institute of History and Law of Abai KazNPU held a webinar for students of the Jurisprudence educational programme with the participation of the judge of the Supreme Court of the country, Associate Professor Madeniet Omarbekova. The topic was «On the Status of Judges in the Republic of Kazakhstan». The moderators were the Head of the Department B.M.Koshpenbetov and Associate Professor F.S.Momysheva.

Issues of judicial reform and amendments to the constitutional law «On the judicial system and the status of judges» were highlighted. Issues relating to the selection of candidate judges were touched on, where not only professional knowledge is taken into account, but also moral qualities. Educational programs at the Academy of Justice of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan have been brought to the attention of students.

The lecture of M. Omarbekova aroused lively interest of students, possibly future judges, who asked questions and received qualified answers.

At the end of the event B.M. Koshpenbetov read out a letter of thanks on behalf of D.N. Bilyalov, Rector of Abai KazNPU, for participation of legal practitioners in the Science Decade and holding a webinar for future jurists.
