Integrating sustainable development goals in chemistry education


On May 21, 2024, at the department of chemistry of Abay KazNPU, a meeting was held with Hiroki Fuji, a guest at the Asian Forum "Prospects for Education on Climate Change," professor at Okayama University, and director of the UNESCO Center for the Promotion of Education for Sustainable Development. The esteemed professor met with the faculty of the Department of Chemistry and first-year doctoral students specializing in 8D01510-Chemistry.

 

During the meeting, Professor H. Fuji delivered a lecture on integrating the "Sustainable Development Goals in the teaching of chemistry" and held a consultation on the following doctoral dissertation topics of students Yesimkhanova Kuttykyz, Mukhambetalieva Zuhra and Adal Saulet: "Integration of chemistry with the Sustainable Development Goals in vocational education in Kazakhstan: methodological foundations", "Formation of soft skills competencies based on sustainable development goals in the preparation of chemistry teachers" and "Development of physical and chemical methods in higher education, improvement of pedagogical approaches to teaching". Professor H.Fuji`s work is highly regarded worldwide, and his experience is invaluable to our university. We express our deep gratitude to Professor Hiroki Fuji and wish him continued success in his creative endeavors.
