An Intellectual Quest-Tournament “The Convergence of the Chemical World” Was Held at the Department of Chemistry

On November 20, 2025, at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Geography, the Department of Chemistry held an intellectual quest-tournament titled “The Convergence of the Chemical World.” The event was attended by students of the 2nd and 4th years of the “6B05301–Chemistry” program, who demonstrated their theoretical knowledge, creative abilities, and professional competencies.

The main goal of the event was to develop students scientific thinking through the integration of knowledge in bioorganic chemistry, environmental chemistry, and petrochemistry, as well as to enhance their analytical, research, communication, and teamwork skills.

The competition consisted of four stages:

Stage I – “Gates to the Chemical World.” At this stage, teams presented their names, members, and slogans in a creative format. Participants set a dynamic tone for the tournament, showcasing their unity and preparedness.

Stage II – “The Chemistry of Life.” This stage included two tasks:

- “Bioquest” – participants searched the auditorium for hidden cards, answered questions, collected keys, and used them to construct correct definitions related to bioorganic chemistry.

- “Recognize the Molecule” – the team captain was given 15 terms to explain to their team members within 2 minutes. This task tested quick thinking, team coordination, and the ability to clearly convey chemical concepts.

Stage III – “4 Pictures – 1 Word.” Four images related to petrochemistry and environmental chemistry were displayed on the screen. Participants had to determine the common meaning of the pictures and identify one correct word.

Stage IV – “The Door to a Clean Future.” The final integrative stage combined the three disciplines. Teams were given situational tasks to solve in a role-playing format, using various emotions: joy, sadness, anger, fear, and shyness.

The intellectual quest-tournament “The Convergence of the Chemical World” not only reinforced students subject knowledge but also developed their interdisciplinary thinking, creativity, and professional communication skills. The event proved to be an engaging and valuable platform, combining learning with practical experience.
