Prospects for training foreign citizens
in Abai KazNPU

On May 13, 2020, the Department of Philological Specialties for Foreign Citizens of the Faculty for Foreign Citizens and Pre-University Training held the second career-oriented online meeting «Applicant 2020» in order to familiarize foreign citizens with the conditions and training opportunities at Abai KazNPU. Representatives of foreign companies, students of the JAGIS and TORFL courses, graduate students of 4 courses, undergraduates and doctoral students were invited to the meeting.

The head of the department Begalieva Saule said that for 27 years the teaching staff of the department has successfully taught Kazakh and Russian languages to representatives of different countries: South Korea, China, Turkey, Madagascar, Tajikistan, the Philippines, Vietnam, Nigeria, Congo, Bangladesh and a number of others.

Teachers of the department explained the rules for admission to the Abai University, informed about the possibility of foreign citizens participating in the competition for an educational grant for free education at universities in Kazakhstan.

A graduate of the Department of Min Mei (PRC), undergraduate Siddik Khusainov (Tajikistan) and first-year doctoral student Yang Xinjun (PRC) shared their impressions of studying at Abai KazNPU, warmly talked about how they prepared concert numbers with the teachers, participated in the stage plays , went on excursions and won sports competitions.

A video was shown about the experience of distance learning of students of the department and online congratulations on behalf of foreign students on the Day of Unity of the People of Kazakhstan and Victory Day.

During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the importance of conducting career guidance work among foreign citizens, on the need to find new forms of conducting this work online.

It was decided to post the information «Applicant 2020» in Chinese, Korean, Turkish, English and other languages.
