Educational laboratory for inclusive Education

On May 12, 2022, a new structure, the «Training Laboratory for Inclusive Education», was opened at Abai KazNPU. The event was initiated by the Dara Charitable Foundation, the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology and the Department of Professional Training in «Special Pedagogy».

The mission of the «Special Pedagogy» training department is to train competent, qualified, competitive and socially active pedagogical staff, capable of providing progressive and sustainable development of special education in RK on the basis of integration of educational, scientific and socio-cultural activities of the department, institute and university.

The concept of teaching and research laboratory is to educate undergraduate students in the specialty «Special Pedagogy».

The aim is to organize and conduct research in the field of inclusive and special education, the use of laboratory resources in the education of students and the training of educators. The laboratory consists of 4 zones: surdopedagogics, typhlo-pedagogics, oligofrenopedagogics, speech therapy, based on diagnostic and correctional work.

Laboratory objectives: implementation of research activities in the field of inclusive and special education; involvement of teachers, students, undergraduates, doctoral students in research work; organization of dual education for students on special education; development of cooperation with institutions of general and special education; use of laboratory resources in the educational process.

The main activities of the laboratory are: organizing and conducting research on inclusive and special education; training specialists in special pedagogy; organizing and conducting diagnostic research; rehabilitation of children in need of EP; resource provision for students and training teaching staff with high competencies.

The opening ceremony of the laboratory was attended by Chairman of the Board of Directors of Abai KazNPU Rector D.N. Bilyalov, Head of Dara Charitable Foundation G.E. Dosaeva, Director of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology G.A. Abayeva, Head of «Special pedagogy» training department A.N.Autayeva, heads of special and inclusive education institutions K.A.Toksambayeva, I.A.Zlokazova, Sh.Sh.Ilikbayeva, D.H.Kultayeva, R.A.Turegalyeva, M.Sh.Altynova, A.S.Yusupova. Having congratulated those present with this event, they shared their experience and wished successful work to the laboratory staff.

During the event a memorandum of cooperation was signed with «Dara» charity foundation and Scientific-Practical Centre for Social Rehabilitation Development to strengthen the research and partnership relations. The Department of Professional Training in Special Pedagogy aims to study domestic and international experience more extensively and develop new programmes to train specialists in rehabilitation and psychological and pedagogical support for children with autism spectrum disorders.
