Facilitation as a Method of Interactive Student Learning
On April 03, 2023, the Department of Pedagogy of Abai University opened the Decade of Science with a university-wide methodological seminar on the topic: "Facilitation as a method of interactive learning for students".
Ph.D., Associate Professor, Director of the Institute of Psychology and Pedagogy Abayeva G.A. delivered a welcoming speech, stating the importance and relevance of the topic of the seminar in modern conditions. Revealed the need to implement facilitation in the educational process of the university, managing its process from the very beginning to its completion. She revealed the importance of holding the Decade of Science, the active participation of teachers and students for their professional growth.
Kolumbaeva Sh.Zh., Head of the Department of Disciplines of the Pedagogical Cycle at the University, welcoming the participants of the Decade of Science, focused on the participation of teachers of the department in organizing and conducting a cycle of events dedicated to the development of professional competence within the framework of the decade. This topic is relevant and allows teachers to build a learning process focused on unlocking the potential of students. Unfortunately, not all students enter the university consciously, with a full understanding of the role of the teacher. The teacher-facilitator assists students in understanding their capabilities, needs and conscious understanding of the teacher`s professional activities.
The main speaker of the all-university methodological seminar was A.D. Tanatova, Ph.D.
As part of the methodological seminar, a discussion platform was created to update the role of the teacher-facilitator in increasing the active subjective learning activity of students.
In the report of Tanatov A.D. focused the attention of the participants on the need for university teachers to use facilitation approaches, technologies necessary to create effective interpersonal group interaction of students and conduct a constructive dialogue. The use of facilitation teaching methods in the classroom will allow students to take an active educational and cognitive activity.
The methodological seminar was attended by doctoral students and the teaching staff of Abai KazNPU. Thanks to the work of the moderator of the methodological seminar, Ph.D., Professor Berikhanova A.E. participants of the event were able to ask questions, share their findings and recommendations.
