Philology students conducted a literary quest for schoolchildren of Almaty

On November 22, 2021 at the private school named after Sh. Valikhanov with the support of the Russian House in Almaty a literary quest «Along the paths of V. I. Dahl» was held. The game was dedicated to the 220th anniversary of the birth of the writer, ethnographer, linguist, creator of the famous dictionary. Teams of 3rd grade students of the Dostar International Lyceum School, Gymnasium School №8, Bilimkana-Almaty School Private School, School №154 named after I.K.Mandoki, gymnasium № 56 named after K.Satpayev, private school Tamos Education, private school named after Sh.Valikhanov took part in the event.

The head of the department of educational programs of Rossotrudnichestvo Tamara Zubkova and the director of the school named after Sh.Valikhanov Oleg Pak addressed the participants with a welcoming speech.

The Guest of the creative quest was one of the largest literary museums in the world - the State Museum of the History of Russian Literature named after V.I. Dahl, which this year celebrates the centenary of its founding. Lyudmila Dendeberya, researcher of the department of scientific, educational and methodological work, showed a portrait of its creator. Vladimir Ivanovich Dahl worked on this dictionary for 53 years. The children saw a collection of Russian Fairy Tales published in 1832. This is a miraculously preserved book, since the entire edition was destroyed.

The 2nd year students of the Institute of Philology and Multilingual Education of Abai KazNPU - Saltanat Kurmetov and Dilyana Yunasheva helped to carry out the quest. Third-graders performed interesting tasks at seven stations. Together we read V. Dahl`s fairy tales, answered questions about the text, assembled a puzzle from fragments of illustrations for the fairy tale «The Snow Maiden», worked with proverbs from V. Dahl`s collection. The result of the work was the statement of V. Dahl about the Russian language, collected from «colorful words»: «Language is the age-old labor of a whole generation».
