Jubilee International Event Dedicated to the 180th Anniversary of Abai Kunanbayev

From December 1 to 3, 2025, the Faculty of Philology of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University hosted a jubilee international event dedicated to the 180th anniversary of Abai Kunanbayev.

The event was organized by the Faculty of Philology, with the Department of Russian Language and Literature taking an active part in its preparation and implementation.

On December 1, the international forum "Abai`s Heritage and Digital Civilization: Universal Values at the Intersection of Science, Education, and Spirituality" was held.

On December 3, the program continued with the international virtual tour "Museums and Abai Centers", which brought together representatives of academic and cultural institutions from Kazakhstan and other countries.

The virtual format enabled participants to become familiar with the activities of museums and Abai centers, as well as with key areas of their research and educational work.

As part of the virtual tour, the Department of Russian Language and Literature presented the Abai Center at the Pomeranian University in Słupsk (Poland). The presentation illustrated many years of international cooperation in the study and promotion of Abai`s heritage beyond Kazakhstan.

Students of the Department enrolled at Pomeranian University under the dual degree program, as well as second-year master`s students currently undertaking academic internships in Poland, also joined the virtual tour.

A special highlight of the program was a video presentation by Maksim Ponomarenko, a graduate of the Department and the initiator of the "Bosaga" project and the "On the Abai Wave" challenge. The video presented the outcomes of the project aimed at promoting Abai`s literary legacy worldwide.

The jubilee event contributed to the expansion of international dialogue, the strengthening of academic and cultural ties, and the promotion of Abai Kunanbayev`s spiritual heritage far beyond the borders of Kazakhstan.
