A new student centre opened at Abai University
On November 15, Minister of Science and Higher Education, Sayasat Nurbek attended the inauguration of Abai Student Centre at Abai KazNPU.
The Minister congratulated students on the new centre, which will help them to realize their boldest ideas, develop interesting projects and startups. He noted that Abai Student Center will serve to the development of education in general and is a good example for other universities in Kazakhstan. It was underlined that Mr Tokayev pays special attention to the sphere of education and science, increase of human potential and support to youth.
«This centre will really help the university to implement the tasks set by the President of the country. I would like to especially note the noble deed of Boris Umanov. His son Grigoriy Abramovich Umanov, a famous national pedagogue and scientist, one of the founders of modern Kazakhstan pedagogy, who has made a great contribution to the education of the country and development of Abai KazNPU, has provided a strong support to students by becoming a sponsor of the Abai Student Center», said Sayasat Nurbek.
University Rector Darkhan Bilyalov, thanking everyone present for taking part in such an important event, stressed that teachers and students are the backbone of our university. «Therefore, we try to create all conditions for their effective study and work», he said.
During the event, a tour of the Student Centre, which is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and necessary materials, took place. A co-working centre, rooms for debates and university clubs (there are 26 of them today), a music room, a psychological support centre on the top floor and the Centre for Young Akyns are located here. The minister also visited the classroom named after Prof. G.A.Umanov, which was equipped with the support of the family of the renowned scientist and pedagogue. The classroom is equipped with modern furniture and DigiTouch BB-86 interactive board with built-in document camera and other technical facilities. On the same day, Sayasat Nurbek met with the faculty and staff of the university. A number of representatives of the sphere of education and science, who were awarded in honour of the Day of the Republic by the Decree of the President of the country, were given medals «Eren enbegi ushin», as well as Certificates of Honour and Letters of Gratitude of the Minister.
