Vaccination - tick-borne encephalitis prevention

 

On March 17, 2023 the doctors of the health unit of university together with the management and teachers of the Institute of Natural History and Geography conducted explanatory work among students on preventive measures against tick-borne encephalitis.

 

It was noted that tick-borne encephalitis is a natural focal viral disease that affects the central nervous system, leads to paralysis and even death. The virus is transmitted through the bite of this dangerous insect. Detailed information is given about the main symptoms of tick-borne encephalitis and the consequences of this disease. Therefore, it was stressed that for the students going for field practice, the effective protection against tick-borne encephalitis is vaccination. The students were also made aware of its side effects. Precautions for travelling to mountain and steppe areas were discussed. The students received a lot of necessary information.
