Seminar "How viral hepatitis A is transmitted"

 

On April 6, 2023 staff of Department on educational, social work and youth policy together with doctors of health unit of Abai KazNPU in order to prevent hepatitis A virus infection (Botkin disease) and infectious disease doctor of City polyclinic №1 B.S. Sayfurhan conducted a preventive seminar on "How viral hepatitis A is transmitted".

 

During her lecture  B.S. Saifurkhan explained that hepatitis A is an inflammatory disease of liver caused by hepatitis A virus. The main mechanism of transmission is fecal-oral route, virus infection occurs as a result of consuming food or water contaminated with feces of infected person. The main symptoms are fever, malaise, loss of appetite, diarrhoea, nausea, abdominal discomfort, darkened urine and yellowing of the eyes and skin.

 

Just as clearly she explained the basic simple and accessible measures for the prevention of all intestinal diseases - thoroughly wash your hands before eating and vegetables, fruits and berries before eating, drink only boiled or bottled water, eat at home or in public places where all sanitary regulations are observed, if possible. It was noted that the most effective way to prevent viral hepatitis A is through vaccination, which creates immunity for 10-15 years.

 

Students asked a number of questions, such as "Is the asymptomatic person infectious", "What tests should be taken if there is jaundice", "How to be treated if you fall ill" and others. The students received a lot of useful information.
