Students of Abai KazNPU listened to a lecture on mediation

On September 25, 2023, on the basis of the socially significant project "Social project management" of the Akimat of Almaty, the NGO "International Human Rights Center" under the leadership of the Department of Education, Social Work and Youth Policy of the NJSC "Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abai", a lecture was held on the topic "Carrying out a set of measures to resolve controversial issues and activating the mediation institute".

The event was attended by lecturer, President of the International Human Rights Center, Director of the Association of Mediators of Kazakhstan, coach-mediator Zhandilda Azhigalievich Zhakupov, chief specialist of the Department of Education, Social Work and Youth Policy Atambayeva Ayim Bolatkyzy, teachers, students of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology, Institute of History and Law.

During the lecture, the issues of the development of mediation in Kazakhstan and its role in society were discussed. Differences and similarities were expressed between justice in its time and mediation today.

According to Zhandilda Azhigalievich Zhakupov, a mediator coach, mediation plays an important role in the modernization of society`s consciousness.

In general, the concept of mediation is a special tool aimed at increasing respect for freedom, human rights, the formation of relations between the two sides, the effective resolution of social and other disputes.

Thus, the lecturer stressed that when considering criminal and civil cases, it is necessary to promote the establishment of mediation as a legal mechanism.

At the end of the meeting, the students filled out a questionnaire. The students also asked the lecturer important questions in the field of mediation and received satisfactory answers.
