Art of book publishing

On October 27, 2021, students of the Department of Oriental Philology and Translation of the Institute of Philology and Multilingual Education of Abai KazNPU went on an excursion in honor of the Open Day at the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The staff of the Gylym Ordasy library (House of Scientists) welcomed visitors and showed great concern for them. The library researcher told about the history of each department and classrooms, showing all three floors and gave a good tour.

The exhibition «The Art of Book Publishing», which was very informative, made an indelible impression on the students. The library has about 6.5 million books, the oldest of which dates back to the 16th century. The largest is a well-preserved Chinese-English dictionary measuring 63/14 centimeters. The students were happy to see such rarities with their own eyes, in their opinion, the architecture of the building and the comfort of the reading rooms, the abundance of scientific papers contribute to independent research work, writing dissertations and articles. The teachers of the department express their gratitude to the head of the rare books department Gulshat Abikova for such exhibitions, close contacts with universities, inviting students and providing a large amount of information.
