Results of the research practice of master`s degree students-translators

On 28 March, 2022, at the Department of Oriental Philology and Translation of the Institute of Philology and Multilingual Education, the results of the research practice of master`s degree students in the specialty «Translation Studies» were summed up.

After a long break, master`s degree students were again able to do research practice at the Institute of Linguistics named after A. Baitursynov of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which is the country`s leading research center in the field of linguistics. This happened due to the conclusion of an agreement between the institute and our university in accordance with the state course towards the integration of science and education.

The purpose of this practice is to study the latest theoretical, methodological and technological achievements of domestic and foreign translation studies, develop practical research skills, apply modern methods for collecting, processing and interpreting experimental data in a dissertation research. Introductory and final conferences were held with the participation of teachers of the department and scientists of the Institute of Linguistics named after A. Baitursynov. Each master`s degree student is given an individual task in accordance with the topic of the master`s thesis; their implementation became possible, including due to consultations with the staff of the Institute of Linguistics and work in the scientific library of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan. A feature of the current practice was the expansion of the general professional horizons of master`s degree students by studying the most pressing problems of Kazakh linguistic science, in line with which the employees of the above-mentioned research center work on scientific projects.

The scientific supervisor of the master`s degree students` research practice of the specialty «Translation Studies», Professor A.K.Zhumabekova held regular consultations, control over the implementation of planned tasks, filling out all types of documentation.

As a result, master`s degree students successfully coped with their duties. All students participated in international and republican scientific events - conferences, seminars, webinars, completed their dissertations, published articles on their research topics in English, Kazakh and Russian.
