Journey to the world of East and West

On April 5, 2023, as part of the "Decade of Science" of Abai University, a solemn event "Journey to the World of East and West" was held, organized by the Chair of Eastern Philology and Translation of the Institute of Philology.

The event was attended by students of the specialties "Teacher of Oriental Language with Knowledge of English", "Foreign Philology: Oriental Language", "Translation Studies", "Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages".

The festive evening began with an exhibition to familiarize guests with the scientific works of university teachers and the traditions of the Arab, Chinese, Korean, Turkish, Uighur, English, German, French countries. The concert program with welcoming words was opened by the Deputy Director for Scientific Work of the Institute of Philology A.A.Naimanbaev, Director of the Confucius Institute at KazNU named after Al-Farabi from the Chinese side, Ms. Deng Hong, also Deputy Director for Educational Work of the Aisaf-Almaty Gymnasium.

Guests of the evening and students of the Pedagogical College of Foreign Languages, the Almaty Kazakh-Turkish Humanitarian and Technological College, the Aisaf-Almaty Gymnasium, performances by university students. Enchanting melodies, rhythmic dances, songs of the peoples of the East and West were like a real journey to these countries. Finally, the song "Dreamers" sounded in different languages and gave guests and participants a great mood. The concert ended with a congratulatory speech by the head of the Chair of Oriental Philology and Translation N.N.Konkabayeva, who presented the guests with letters of thanks and gifts from the rector of the university.
