A student of the translation department of Abai University is the winner of the international competition

A 2nd year student of the specialty "Translation Studies" of the Institute of Philology of Abai University Bektemir Zhanerke (head - Doctor of Philology, Professor of the Department of Oriental Philology and Translation A.K. Zhumabekova) took 2nd place in the international competition of literary translation "School of a young translator: Russia - Hungary - Kazakhstan", organized by the Institute of Translation (Moscow) and won a grant for summer education at this school.

From June 18 to June 24 of this year, Zhanerke, among the winners of the competition, was trained at the School of Translators under the guidance of Evgeny Reznichenko and Anna Esparsa in the writer`s town of Peredelkino near Moscow.

The program was very rich: lectures, master classes, intellectual stand-ups, creative meetings with writers, translators, publishers (Dmitry Petrov, Pavel Basinsky, Ilya Odegov, Maxim Zamshev, Taras Varkhotov, Zhanat Beketan, Oksana Yakimenko, Akerke Asan, Jozsef Goretit and etc.), discussion of documentaries, literary excursions and other events. It was a huge unforgettable experience and a great opportunity to network with world-class translation experts.

The training ended with the presentation of diplomas from the Institute of Translation.
