Korean Language Olympiad

On October 20, 2023, the first stage of the oral Olympiad among students studying Korean language was held for the first time in Abay KazNPU. 23 students of 2 and 3 courses of speciality "Teacher of Oriental (Korean) language with knowledge of English" and "Foreign language: two foreign languages" of the Institute of Philology took part in the competition. Before the competition, the head of the Department of Oriental Philology and Translation N.N. Konkabayeva addressed the students and wished them good luck and thanked the jury members on behalf of the university. The competition was evaluated by specially invited guests:

Yoo Byung-soo - General Director of Union Partnership Company;
Park Eun Ji, a teacher at the Korea Education Centre;
Kang Tae Kwon, director of the representative office of AT State Corporation.

Within the first stage of the Oral Olympiad there was a competition for the best three verses on a given word - Abay. Many students took part in it and 5 best three verses were awarded with valuable prizes.

In addition to the contest, a lottery was held among the audience and seven lucky spectators were given gifts. Two gifts - a disc of the popular band Black Pink were provided by the Korean Education Centre at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Kazakhstan.

All 23 participants of the Oral Olympiad received memorable gifts, and the best performances were awarded cash prizes ranging from 10-40 thousand tenge. The students who took the 1st and 2nd place automatically go to the International Olympiad in Korean Studies, which will be held in November in KazUIR&WL named after Abylai Khan. The competition of oratory skills was prepared by teachers of Korean language EBe Moon Ki, Burmistrova E.V. and Nam N.S.

Also on the invitation of the director of the Korean Centre of Education at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Kazakhstan our students of 2-3 courses of speciality "Teacher of the Eastern (Korean) language with knowledge of English" represented our university at the Festival of education and culture of Korea. A whole pavilion was allocated, a budget for preparation and other necessary means were provided for our students to honourably show their university. Students prepared booklets, banner, prepared food for visitors. The festival was visited by about 1000 people.
