Scientific trip of Abai University`s scientists-philologists to universities in Astana

In accordance with the calendar plan of the scientific project №AR19680449 "Assessment of the quality of translation: scientific and educational spheres", the project executors from Abai KazNPU went on a business trip to Astana from November 6 to 11, 2023 in the following composition: Doctor of Sciences in Philology, Professor of the Department of Oriental Philology and Translation of the Institute of Philology Zhumabekova Aigul (supervisor), Candidate of Sciences in Philology Shengelbaeva Nurzhamal, PhD Aldabergenova Ayim, PhD Manapbayeva Zhannura, Master Mukhitov Arupzhan.

The research objectives of the project were: to study the current state of the problem of assessing the quality of translation in Kazakhstan in terms of identifying the most effective aspects of its solution; to consider the main theoretical and practical approaches to assessing the quality of translation in the scientific and educational spheres. The project participants conducted a sociolinguistic survey of students of philological specialties and recorded interviews with teachers to identify an external assessment of the quality of textbooks on philology translated into Kazakh, attended classes on various subjects of translation studies.

The performers of the scientific project attended classes and exchanged views with scientists and teachers of universities in Astana: Nazarbayev University, L.N. Gumilyov ENU, Turan-Astana University, M.S. Narikbayev KazGUU, A.K. Kusainov Eurasian Humanities Institute.

On November 9, 2023, a round table was organized at the L.N. Gumilyov ENU with the participation of the head of the Department of Theory and Practice of Translation, PhD D.M. Akizhanova, PhD A.M. Toleubayeva, candidate of philology Zh.M. Konyratbayeva, PhD M.Zh. Eskindirova and other teachers. The project executors told about their research tasks, exchanged opinions with colleagues. On November 10, 2023, at the request of the Faculty of the Turan-Astana University, D.Phil., Professor A.K. Zhumabekova gave a guest lecture "Actual problems of assessing the quality of translation in Kazakhstan". At the end of the lecture, feedback was provided to teachers and students. Thus, all the goals of the scientific trip were achieved.
