On October 17, 2025, the Faculty of World Languages at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University hosted the 3rd Korean Language Olympiad for students studying the Korean language. The event was organized by the Korean section instructors of the Department of Oriental Philology and Translation – N.S. Nam, E.V. Burmistrova, and M. Kultasov.
The Olympiad brought together 2nd–4th year students from the programs “Teacher of Korean and English” and “Two Foreign Languages.”

The main goal of the event was to foster students’ interest in Korean language and culture, deepen their knowledge, and enhance their linguistic competitiveness.

The Olympiad opened with welcoming remarks from Dean of the Faculty of World Languages, Mr. Edilbai Toleubayev, who wished the students success.
Head of the Department of Oriental Philology and Translation, Ms. K.Abdrakhmaova, introduced the invited guests and highlighted the importance of perseverance in learning foreign languages.

The judging panel included Mr. Lee Thwe Gong, Deputy Director of the Korean Education Center in Almaty; Prof. Son Yoojung, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and Ms. Lim Songjoo, teacher at Onnam Elementary School, Ulsan, Republic of Korea.

The Olympiad was held at a high level: students demonstrated excellent knowledge and remarkable progress in mastering the Korean language.
All participants received certificates and memorable gifts, while the winners were awarded monetary prizes and selected to represent Abai University at the upcoming International Korean Studies Olympiad and Conference, to be held in November at Abylai Khan KazUIR&WL.
