Education is an indicator of the quality of any nation

Teachers and students unanimously supported the initiatives proposed in the new Message, which emphasizes the important problems of socio-economic development of the country, clear guidelines for further improvement of the well-being of Kazakhstan, including youth.

The President of the country also put emphasis on higher education. «As the quality of national universities increases, so will the cost of education in them. Therefore, the state plans to provide educational grants, which, depending on the results of the UNT and other indicators, will be differentiated in size, from 30 to 100%. Soft loans with an annual interest rate of 2 to 3% will also be made available. These measures will make higher education more accessible and will also strengthen society`s ideology of partnership and mutual responsibility», Tokayev said. Special attention is being paid to improving the quality of education, he said.

The role of schoolteachers was emphasised. The state has done a lot in recent years to increase the attractiveness of this profession. But positive changes are still required in this direction. A new accreditation standard for teachers` colleges and a competency framework for their graduates still have to be adopted. The head of state, noting the importance of technical education at the current stage, also proposed, given the global scientific and technological progress, to strengthen the teaching of science and mathematics and English language in senior classes.

Particular attention was paid to the construction of new schools. Thus, it was suggested that money seized from corrupt officials should be used for this purpose. «All funds illegally obtained from the state must be confiscated and used to build schools», Tokayev said.

The leadership of Abai University, the faculty and students unanimously support the new program of political reforms of the head of state and will take an active part in the implementation of his instructions.
