SCIENTIFIC AND PRACTICAL ROUND TABLE HELD
On February 6, 2026, the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University hosted a scientific and practical round table on the topic: «Comprehensive Support for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders in the System of Additional Education: The Role of the Teacher-Assistant».
The event was organized within the framework of the project «National System for Comprehensive and Continuous Support of Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders».
The round table brought together faculty members of the Department of Special Pedagogy, doctoral and master`s students, deputy directors of additional education institutions, methodologists, educational psychologists, special educators, speech therapists, teacher-assistants (tutors), and representatives of the parent community from Almaty, Astana, and other regions of Kazakhstan.
The purpose of the event was to discuss theoretical and practical aspects of organizing comprehensive psycho-pedagogical support for children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) in additional education settings, as well as to exchange effective practices of teacher-assistants.
The opening remarks were delivered by Gulmira Nietbayeva - PhD, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology, and Akbota Autaeva - Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Associate Professor and Head of the Department, who emphasized the relevance of the topic.
During the event, participants discussed modern approaches to comprehensive support for children with ASD in additional education, the professional role of the teacher-assistant, regulatory and legal frameworks, and practical experience.
Key presentations were delivered by university scholars:
Akmaral Satova - Doctor of Psychological Sciences, Professor;
Nadezhda Zhienbayeva - Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor;
Galiya Abayeva - Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor;
Akmaral Rsaldinova - Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor;
as well as experienced practitioners from additional education institutions:
Tursungul Suleimenova, Kamila Tolendieva, Aidana Khairullina, Zhanar Murzalieva, and others.
Teacher-assistants and representatives of the parent community also actively participated, sharing their practical experience and perspectives.
The event facilitated professional exchange, promoted interdisciplinary dialogue, and helped identify promising directions for the development of teacher-assistants` work in the comprehensive support of children with autism spectrum disorders.
