Results of QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023: Abai University in top-100 by «Education and Training» and «English language and literature»

On March 22, 2023, the next QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023 was published. 1594 universities from 161 countries participated in the ranking.

Recently, the importance and influence of QS World University Rankings by Subject has been increasing, since when choosing a particular university, students, along with the overall rating of the university, pay close attention to ranking by subject areas (specialties) that interest them.

The QS World University Rankings by Subject includes 54 disciplines grouped into 5 categories. The rating methodology is based on five key indicators: Academic Reputation, Reputation among Employers, Citation, H-index and International Research Cooperation. Disciplines are ranked at the global and country (regional) level.

According to the results of QS WUR by Subject 2023, Abai University improved its positions in three specialties in two categories.

In the category «Arts and Humanities», the university improved its position from 297 to 278th place in the global ranking and took 3rd place among domestic universities participating in the ranking. In the detailed context of this category, the following results should be noted: in the specialty «English language and literature», the university entered the top 100, taking 95th place in the global ranking. It should be noted, that the university was not ranked in this specialty last year, but this year it regained its top positions, improving the result of 2021 (201-250 place). In the same category in the specialty «Linguistics», the university holds the same position as last year - 201-250 place among universities in the world and 3rd place among universities in Kazakhstan.

In the category of «Social Sciences and Management» in the specialty «Education and Training», the university took 76th place in the global ranking, which corresponds to the first place among universities in Kazakhstan. It can be proudly noted that in this specialty, the university has been showing steady positive dynamics over the past three years.

The dynamics of the university`s achievements in QS WUR by Subject 2023 is an indicator of its successful integration into the global academic space of higher education, competitiveness and increased awareness of the national brand in the field of training of teaching staff.
