Project office for the construction of student dormitories opened

On March 3, 2023 in Almaty, the Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek and the Deputy Akim of Almaty Arman Kyrykbayev signed a memorandum of cooperation, under which the Project Office for construction of student dormitories was opened. The meeting was attended by the rectors of the universities in the southern capital.

The first step in this direction was the decision to build two new dormitories for Satbayev University in 2023. At the same time Abai University started work on the construction of housing for its students with 140 beds.

Rector of Abai University Darkhan Bilalov signed a memorandum with the investor and the leadership of Financial Centre JSC on mutual cooperation in improving the living conditions of students. This step will significantly improve living conditions of our students, which will also affect the quality of their education.

The main task of the Project Office is to create favorable conditions for the state program of construction of dormitories and accommodation for students in Almaty, namely prompt legal, consulting and expert support for higher educational institutions and potential investors interested in construction of housing for youth by the City Akimat and the Financial Center.

The Program of Almaty City Development till 2025 envisages construction of dormitories for 12 thousand beds, and till 2030 - for 20 thousand more beds.

Representatives of the ministry, the Finance Centre and various departments of the city`s akimat will be in the project office on a permanent basis. They will advise universities, developers and contractors every day in CSC mode.
