Celebration of Nauryz at the Pomeranian Academy in Slupsk

On March 27, 2023, the Abay Kazakh Culture and Science Center at the Pomeranian Academy in Słupsk, Poland, hosted a meeting dedicated to the celebration of Nauryz by the Department of Russian Language and Literature at the Institute of Philology of Abay KazNPU. Our students are studying in Poland under a semester student exchange program as part of a multi-year bilateral agreement on cooperation between the two universities.

The event was attended by special guests: Vice-Rector for Students`Affairs, Professor Danuta Gerczyńska, Director of the Institute of Philology, Professor Krystyna Krawiec-Złotkowska and lecturers and students of the Institute of Philology. The event was led by Dr. Maksym Ponomarenko, coordinator of the Centre and graduate of Abai KazNPU and lecturer at the Pomeranian Academy in Slupsk.

A traditionally generous dastarkhan was served - kuyrdak, baursaki, kurt, irimshik and other Kazakh dishes. Students delivered presentations on the history and features of Nauryz, as well as their university in Almaty and hometowns. In addition, they prepared an extensive cultural programme: they played the dombra, sang Kazakh folk songs and recited poems dedicated to spring and the renewal of nature.
