Centre for the Coordination of Linguistic Research opened at Abai University

On April 21, 2023 on the basis of the Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abay solemn opening of the "Center for Coordination of Linguistic Research" took place within the framework of international scientific-theoretical conference on "Modern Kazakh-speaking content in Kazakhstan: research paradigms". This conference was attended by qualified scientists from the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan and professors from our university.

Opening the conference, Chairman-Rector Darhan Bilalov stressed the importance of opening the centre. "The 21st century, as you know, is a period when science and technology came together and with incredible speed rose to a new level of development. Because science is an indicator of the intellectual potential of a society and a state. That`s why our country stands shoulder to shoulder with other countries, and this is directly linked to the development of domestic science and technology," the head of the university said.

Darkhan Bilalov added that the centre will promote scientific research into the Kazakh language. The main purpose of the centre is to coordinate the linguistic research of more than 10 dissertation councils in the country - to determine the priority areas of science development, to coordinate the focus of doctoral dissertations on linguistics on topical issues and to ensure that topics are not repeated. In the future, this research centre will be headed by Karimbek Kurmanaliev, an academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This means there will be one big scientific environment, bringing together scientists from the University and the Academy. The scientists and guests speaking at the conference wished the centre success in its work and in the training of young scientists who could become true advocates of the mother tongue.
