Regular meeting of the Sub-Commission for Cooperation in Education and Science between Kazakhstan and Russia

Today the 3rd meeting of the Sub-Commission on Cooperation in the Field of Education and Science within the Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia was held at Abai University.

The Sub-Commission was chaired by Kuanysh Yergaliev, RK Vice-Minister of Science and Higher Education, and Mr Konstantin Mogilevskiy, RF Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education. Experts from industry ministries, heads of universities and representatives of companies from the two friendly states took part as well.

Kuanysh Yergaliev noted that the meeting is a very important event for the development of strategic partnership between our countries in the field of higher education. It allows to develop specific actions and measures to expand cooperation in this area, and to agree on projects and programs that can be the basis for the further development of economic, cultural and humanitarian relations between Kazakhstan and Russia.

Issues of cooperation in higher education of the two countries, joint projects, opening of branches of higher education institutions, including a branch of a Kazakh higher education institution in Russia, joint training of personnel were considered. Also the questions on preparation to the forthcoming Forum of rectors and the further plan of actions on cooperation in the field of education and science were discussed.

The meeting was held at a high level, the participants exchanged views on key areas of cooperation. Both sides expressed readiness to support and develop joint projects, to assist in training specialists in priority directions.

In conclusion of the meeting the parties expressed confidence that cooperation in higher education between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation will develop and bring fruitful results for both countries. Appropriate decisions on further development of cooperation were taken.
