Visit of a delegation from Nazarbayev University

On May 24, 2023 the first day of the visit by a delegation from Nazarbayev University (NU) was successfully carried out. Luis Ramon Rojas-Solozarno, Associate Provost for Postgraduate Programs at NU; Gulnaz Bulebayeva, General Manager of the Provost Office; and Askhat Bekzhanov, General Manager of the Provost Office visited Abai KazNPU.

After meeting with Darhan Bilyalov, the Chairman of the Board-Rector of KazNPU named after Abay, the guests visited the museum, where they were introduced to the history of the university, the artworks created by the masters-teachers of the Institute of Arts, Culture and Sports. Darkhan Bilyalov gave a cognitive tour around the museum, spoke about the meanings of paintings and sculptures, and introduced the arts and crafts (chiy, felted fabrics), military equipment, musical instruments, and everyday objects of Kazakhs.

Then the delegation from Nazarbayev University met with post-doctoral fellows and young researchers of Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abay. The event was moderated by the director of the Department of Science, Professor Ulzharkyn Abdigapbarova. She spoke about the system of post-doctoral studies at our university, implemented since 2019, and stressed that in three years post-doctoral students have the opportunity to fully focus on science, do their own research, publish their results in foreign journals - at least two articles in Scopus journals. In addition, post-doctoral students improve their teaching skills, as the university allows them to work on a quarter-time basis as lecturers in the departments. During the meeting, guests and hosts exchanged views and asked questions. The meeting was productive and interesting for both sides.

In the afternoon Askhat Bekzhanov visited Student Centre of Abai University, got acquainted with the Aglan Abai co-working centre, centres "Ulttyk tirbiye", "Ruhani Zhangyru". Luis Ramon Rojas-Solozarno and Gulnaz Bulebaeva attended the defense of the thesis for the award of doctor of philosophy degree (PhD) on "6D011800-Russian language and literature" by A.S. Nusupbekova on "Axiological component of school textbooks on the Russian language and literature".

Tomorrow, May 25, 2023, the Nazarbayev University delegation will continue its visit. Luis Ramon Rojas-Solozarno will deliver a series of lectures on topical issues in postgraduate education.
