Scientific Library of Abai University

 

Like the first university of the country, the scientific library of Abai KazNPU was opened in 1928. The basis of the fund was 40,000 editions from the libraries of Verny gymnasiums and private book collections.

 

Today the library has the richest fund of world fiction and rare editions of the XVIII-XX centuries in foreign languages. The fund of rare books is represented by fiction and scientific reference literature on various branches of knowledge, published in Kazakhstan and in many European countries.

 

At present the library is considered one of the largest university libraries of the country, the leading structural subdivision of the university, providing the educational process and scientific and methodical activities of the necessary information resources.

 

The book fund has about 2 000 000 editions in Kazakh, Russian and foreign languages, fully providing educational programmes of the University. The fund consists of educational and educational-methodical, artistic, scientific and reference literature.

 

All academic buildings of the University have equipped reading rooms with all amenities.

 

The scientific library works on the modern international software J-IRBIS, which covers all spheres of library activity and automates library processes. The reading rooms of the library are equipped with modern computers and necessary digital equipment.There is also a reading room specially equipped with modern technology for users with disabilities.

 

There is an electronic library, which operates in 24/7 mode, contains full-text databases: textbooks and teaching aids, training and methodological complexes for education, abstracts and dissertations, articles from periodicals. (www.library.kaznpu.kz).

 

In addition, users have access to global digital resources and full-text databases Oxford Scholarship Online (books and journals), IPR SMART (EBS), DB RGB (dissertations and abstracts), Wiley Online Library, EBS "Yurait" Polpred.com, Springer, Elsevier (Scopus), Taylor & Francis Group, Library of Congress.
