Abai University Strengthens Cooperation with University College London (UCL)

On September 21, 2023, Abai University hosted a meeting with Professor Tatiana Fumasoli, Director of the IOE Center for Higher Education Research (Institute of Education), Faculty of Education and Society, University College London (UCL) and Dinara Sultan, PhD doctoral student at the Institute of Education (IE), University College London (Great Britain).


The event was attended by Deputy Director of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology Marfuga Absatova, Director of the International Cooperation Department Zhadyra Bainazar, and members of the Young Scientists Council of Abai KazNPU headed by the Chairman of the Young Scientists Council Shakhislam Laiskhanov.


University College London is ranked No. 1 in the world by QS by Subject "Education" and No. 8 in the QS World University Ranking 2023. UCL is also part of the Russell Group, an association of elite universities.


One of the main directions of UCL, as well as Abai University, is teacher education. The main emphases of the dialogue between the parties were the possibility of expanding international cooperation and exchange of experience between the two institutions, conducting joint research and projects, and organizing professional development courses for teachers.


An active discussion was also held between experts from UCL and members of the Abai University Young Scientists`Council, where young researchers received comprehensive answers to their questions and valuable advice on preparing articles for publication in scientific journals, research methods, research ethics and much more. UCL representatives shared their ideas and suggestions on how to improve the quality of teaching and research. The active exchange of opinions became an excellent example of effective interaction between young scientists and experienced experts, contributing to the development of innovative approaches in education.
