Discussing approaches of translation with professors from the Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University

On November 9, 2023, the representatives of the Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University were welcomed at SSH by the Professor of the Department of Languages, Linguistics and Literatures, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Andrey Filchenko. The meeting took place within the framework of the research project "Assessing the quality of translation: scientific and educational spheres" (2023- 2025 supported by the grant of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The project focuses on developing a systematic approach to assessing the quality of translation in the sphere of science and education in Kazakhstan. Project leader Professor Aigul Zhumabekova and the project team members, PhD students Aiym Aldabergenova and Zhannura Manapbayeva got acquainted with the activities of the School of Sciences and Humanities and in particular with the Department of Languages, Linguistics and Literature, which are either directly or indirectly related to the theory and practice of translation. The meeting parties discussed the relevance of the problem of assessing the quality of translation and expressed readiness for collaboration between NU and Abai KazNPU in the future.
