Abai KazNPU was ranked among the best universities in the world in 7 subjects and the "Arts and Humanities" category

Today, the results of the authoritative international ranking QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024 have been published, according to the results of which Abai KazNPU is one of the best universities in the world in 7 subjects, thereby adding 4 educational programs to its achievements, which is certainly a great achievement and recognition in the global higher education arena.

Reasons for the growing popularity of subject rankings around the world include specialization, demand for quality assurance, increasing global competition, employment opportunities, transparency, and accessibility.

This year`s rankings provide independent comparative analysis of the effectiveness of more than 16,400 university programs, grouped into five broad subject categories, and students from more than 1,500 universities and 96 locations around the world.

In Kazakhstan, 8 universities out of 119 universities were included in the subject ranking, 57 programs were analyzed, 17 of them improved their positions, 7 decreased their positions, 13 maintained their positions and 20 entered the rating for the first time.

Abai KazNPU traditionally presented the best result in the category "Social Sciences & Management" in the subject area "Education & Training" - 54th place (1st place in Kazakhstan), which is 22 places better than last year`s results! Once again proving that the mission of the leader of pedagogical education in Kazakhstan is feasible. For the first time in this category, the subject "Jurisprudence" was ranked - 301-350 places (3rd place in Kazakhstan).

Of the 5 rating categories, again, as last year, the University is noted in the "Arts & Humanities" category - 351st place in the world ranking. In this category, the best result, included in the top 100, in the subject area "English Language & Literature" is 93rd place (1st place in Kazakhstan), which is 2 lines higher than last year`s result. For the first time, 3 subject areas were noted: "Philosophy" received 1st place in Kazakhstan, "Modern Languages" - 3rd place in Kazakhstan, and "Art & Design" - 3rd place in Kazakhstan. It should be noted that the first two of them are immediately ranked at positions 101-150, "one step" separates them from entering the world`s top hundred. The third subject is at position 201-240. In addition, for several years "Linguistics" has retained its position - 201-240.

Thus, out of the 7 subjects ranked, the top 100 included "Education and Training" and "English Language", the top 200 - "Modern Languages" and "Philosophy", the top 300 - "Art" and "Linguistics", the top 400 - " Jurisprudence", as well as the broad category "Arts and Humanities" top 400.

The success of Abai KazNPU became possible thanks to the improvement in the quality of scientific research, as evidenced by the positive dynamics of the calculated indicators "Citation" and "H-Index" for subjects previously included in the rating. The ranking of new subjects was achieved through the growth of scientific publications above threshold values, and their high places are ensured, among other things, by the growth of the academic reputation of the university.
It should be noted that the University began participating in this ranking in 2021, and over the course of several years, increased the number of ranked subjects from 2 to 7. This dynamic of progress during the period of transformation of the university into a pedagogical research university is indisputable evidence of the high quality of educational and research activities that contribute to successful integration into the global academic community, growing reputation and awareness of the national brand of Abai University in the global educational space.
