Семинар «PhD Insights: Обмен академическим опытом Назарбаев Университета»

From May 22 to 24, 2024, the Committee for Quality Assurance in the Field of Science and Higher Education of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan organized a seminar on exchanging academic experience at Nazarbayev University to develop PhD doctoral programs. This seminar was attended by the teaching staff and management of structural divisions of 14 organizations of higher and postgraduate education, including the head of the Department of Research and Training of Scientific Personnel G. Baimbetova and the deputy dean for scientific work and international cooperation of the Faculty of Physics, Mathematics and Informatics Zh. Nurmukhamedova Abai University.

Associate Provost of NU Postgraduate Programs Dr. Luis Rojas-Solorzano, Associate Professor of the Graduate School of Education D.Shamatov, General Director for Institutional Effectiveness D.Prestley spoke about the principles of developing curricula for PhD programs, determining the main results for students/PhD candidates and adapting curricula for specific disciplines, with a focus on achieving learning objectives, incorporating interdisciplinary elements into course design, and ensuring courses are aligned with research objectives. Deputy Deans for Science R.Pelizzo, P.Pourafshari, Sh. Memon and other scientists reviewed the requirements for preparing justifications for dissertation research, selecting journals for publication, focused on problems in preparing a dissertation, and answered questions from participants.

Following the seminar, the Chairman of the Committee for Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education A. Toybaev, and the Associate Provost of NU Postgraduate Programs Luis Rojas-Solorzano presented certificates to the participants who completed the practical tasks proposed at the end of the seminar.
