The traditional city Olympiad of schoolchildren has started

Every year, the Zoological City Olympiad of schoolchildren is organized and held on the basis of the Almaty Zoological Park by the park staff in cooperation with the teaching staff of the Abai KazNPU (teachers of the Department of Biology Batyrova K.I., Bekenova N.A., Shynybekova S.S.).). This event is held in order to identify and develop students` creative abilities and interest in scientific (research) activities, promotion of biological science and biological education.

This year, this event is organized in honor of the 86th anniversary of the zoo under the name "Entertaining Zoology" for schoolchildren in grades 7-8 and will be held from October 29 to October 31, 2024. The set of tasks includes tasks of theoretical and practical content. Solving such problems requires participants to have basic knowledge of the features of the structure and vital activity, behavior and lifestyle of animals. In addition, it requires the ability to recognize and establish the main characteristics of animals of different systematic groups, primary skills in research work with scientific equipment (microscopy method) and providing an analysis of their work.
