13.11.2024 Professor of Abai University spoke at an international seminar in Japan On November 6, 2024, Okayama University hosted an international seminar titled "Innovating Teacher Education for Sustainable Development (TESD): Collaborative Approach to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)." Organized as the concluding event of the Core-to-Core program, this seminar brought together leading experts from around the world to discuss the critical role of teacher education in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
A key highlight of the event was the presentation by Dr. Ainur Seilkhan, a PhD, postdoctoral fellow, acting associate professor at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University and graduate of the «Bolashak» program. Ainur Seilkhan spoke at the second panel discussion on "Competency and Evaluation in TESD," where she emphasized the importance of developing and assessing competencies in teacher training to enable educators to integrate sustainable development principles into the educational process. Her presentation garnered significant interest from the international audience and highlighted Kazakhstan`s valuable contributions to the advancement of sustainable education globally.
The seminar also featured a keynote lecture by Charles Hopkins, UNESCO Chair in Reorienting Education towards Sustainability at York University, on "The Past, Present, and Future of Teacher Education for Sustainable Development." In addition, young researchers presented posters, enriching the seminar`s discussion on current challenges and future opportunities in sustainable education.
This event provided an essential platform for international cooperation and knowledge exchange, aimed at enhancing educational strategies in support of the SDGs.
