MAINTAINING PUBLIC ORDER – THE DUTY OF EVERY CITIZEN
In his Address to the People of Kazakhstan, the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, emphasizing the principle of “Law and Order,” highlighted the importance of maintaining public order and peace. In this regard, today officers from the Zhetysu District Police Department of Almaty held a meeting with students of Abai University. Almaty is one of the country’s largest cultural, tourist, and educational centers. Every year, students come to this beautiful city at the foot of the Alatau Mountains to study, and professionals arrive in search of work. In such a large metropolis, maintaining public order, avoiding unlawful acts, and protecting oneself from fraud are especially important. The head of the personnel department of the Zhetysu District Police, Police Lieutenant Colonel Nazgul Kalykbaeva, explained to the students the importance of legal literacy. “Since there are many first-year students here today, I want to especially warn you to be cautious of various scams. Recently, so-called ‘dropper’ fraud has become widespread. Fraudsters may ask to use your bank card, promising you a large payment. However, they then withdraw millions of stolen funds through your account. Remember that owning the bank card does not absolve you from legal responsibility,” said Police Lieutenant Colonel Nazgul Kalykbaeva.
She also addressed the issue of road accidents involving electric scooters. Since the beginning of the year, 79 such incidents have occurred in Almaty, injuring 173 people. As electric scooters are mostly used by young people, they often neglect safety rules. Police officers urged students to remain vigilant and never forget about personal safety.
Law enforcement officers showed videos illustrating what types of actions are considered violations of the law in the Almaty metro, residential buildings, and public places. They also explained in detail how to combat drug abuse and internet fraud. At the end of the meeting, students asked the officers questions and received comprehensive answers. They noted that if every citizen adheres to the principle of “Law and Order,” society will live in peace and harmony.
