HONESTY – ABOVE THE LAW
Today, Abai University hosted a meeting with Alik Shpekbayev, the former Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Agency of Kazakhstan, within the framework of the "Law and Order" principle. The event was attended by compliance officers, faculty members, and students of the university. The meeting focused on legal literacy, human values, and the fight against corruption.
In line with the President is initiative, the strict adherence to the "Law and Order" principle, the prevention of violations, and the promotion of the rule of law are being actively implemented. In this regard, today, Alik Shpekbayev delivered a lecture to students, discussing the rights of Kazakhstani citizens before the law, the dangers of corruption, and the human qualities embedded in our national identity.
– In the traditional upbringing of the Kazakh people, the issue of "honor and conscience" always comes first. The sayings "My wealth is the sacrifice of my life, but my honor is the sacrifice of my soul and "Shame is stronger than death" are well known to all of us. To eradicate corruption, we need to deeply instill this understanding in every citizen. Corruption is a social disease that we must fight together. The great educator Ahmet Baitursynov said, "To be knowledgeable, one must study to be wealthy, one needs a profession to be strong, unity is required. We must work towards these goals. We need to fight corruption together and build a strong immunity against it, – said the police general.
It should be noted that in 2019, under Alik Shpekbayev is initiative, the "Ambassador of Kindness" project was launched at Abai University. The project aims to enhance the activity of civil society made up of volunteer students, especially encouraging young people to engage in volunteer work.
Alik Shpekbayev answered student is questions and shared his life experiences. He emphasized the importance of upholding integrity while pursuing a professional career, noting that only when every citizen embraces the value of honesty will the country prosper and develop.
– Our ancestors lived by the honesty-based laws of the steppe. No one ever crossed the line of decency. Honesty is above the law without honesty, the law is powerless. Therefore, we must instill the traditional upbringing of the Kazakh people in our youth, – said Shpekbayev.
For his contribution to promoting anti-corruption policies among youth and developing the volunteer movement in this direction, Alik Shpekbayev was awarded the "Abai" badge by the university.
