Online conference «The Concept of Dialogue in the Modern World: Philosophical Understanding and Practical Application»

On 9 April 2018 at the Sorbonne-Kazakhstan Institute of Abai KazNPU hosted an online conference «The Concept of Dialogue in the Modern World: Philosophical Understanding and Practical Application».

The purpose of the conference was to discuss the nature of the dialogue and its practical application in modern conditions.

The online conference was held to support the initiatives of Kazakhstan and UNESCO within the framework of the International Decade for the Rapprochement of Cultures (2013-2022), and for the development of the Digital Kazakhstan program.

The online conference was devoted to the following key topics:

1) comprehension of the concept of dialogue in its normative and specific meanings, used in different cultures;

2) the practical application of dialogue in education and intercultural communication;

3) dissemination of best practices and practices in the field of intercultural dialogue in the system of secondary and higher education, in particular the example of the online platform «Intercultural Dialogue» as a unique innovative digital resource that has no analogues in the world yet.

The participants of the conference were the UNESCO Associated Schools in Almaty, the UNESCO / UNITWIN International Network of Chairs «Intercultural Dialogue for Interreligious Understanding», the UNESCO Center for the Rapprochement of Cultures (Almaty), the UNESCO Chairs in Almaty (the journalism department of KazNU, KazNPU), the Sorbonne-Kazakhstan Institute (ISC), the UNESCO Headquarters, the program on social transformations and intercultural dialogue (Paris), the UNESCO Regional Cluster Office in Almaty for Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan -indian found (Almaty).

Sorbonne-Kazakhstan Institute
