Festival "Open Street" in Almaty

    United Nations Development Programme and the Global Environment Facility (GEF) "Sustainable transport in Almaty" with the support of  Akimat organizes October 11, 2015 the first festival "Open Street" in the city of Almaty.

     As part of the event will be closed to vehicular traffic in the city center square Karasai Batyr streets - Panfilov -Abylay Khan - Aiteke, from 9:00 to 14:00. At this time overlapped the streets will be carried out all sorts of activities promoting a healthy lifestyle, active sports, freedom of movement.

    Main idea of ​​this project - to show citizens how useful and interesting things you can do in the streets, where there is no car traffic. Holiday event assumed as a family with elements of cycle / pedestrian parade of bicycles school, sports and theatrical performances.

    The initiative exists in more than 500 cities around the world and includes the temporary transfer people space normally occupied by cars, creates conditions for the free and safe movement, as well as a platform for sporting and cultural events contribute to the socialization of promoting a healthy and active way of life developing and strengthening the community.
