Workshop within winter school of Abai KazNPU


The Department of International Cooperation of Abai KazNPU together with the Narhoz University held a seminar «Development of higher education institutions through systematization approaches of the best implementation practices of TEMPUS and ERASMUS+ PROGRAMS» within the framework of the Winter School of Abai KazNPU on January 10, 2019.


The main objective of the seminar is to promote the development of universities through the systematization of approaches of the best practices for the implementation of projects such as TEMPUS and ERASMUS + programs, to present international experience in the development and improvement of structural units of universities and to form a culture of quality obtained in the framework of these projects.


The following topics were discussed at the seminar: «Methodology for identifying key general and subject competencies within the TuCAHEA project TEMPUS program», «Improving HR management in universities in Kazakhstan: PEOPLE project TEMPUS program», «Best Practices for Capacity Building and Career Center Development with an example of UNIWORK project TEMPUS program», «Development of competence centers and students` potential for employment under the COMPLETE project Erasmus+ program: methodology for determining competences and developing relationships with employers».


The speakers of the seminar, experts of the projects of the University of Narxoz, shared practical experience and recommendations on the development of educational programs: general and subject competencies in the areas of study. Participants discussed issues of the impact of university development strategies on personnel management processes, shared experience of successful practice of creating expert groups on key areas of university HR management, discussed modern tools for effective management of university staff, demonstrated the possibilities of using the Internet and intranets in HR managers, and shared information on the selection and implementation of HR automation systems.


The seminar participants learned about the creation of a model of Centers for the development of competencies and potential for employment when universities have greater opportunities to respond in a timely manner to the current changes and act as a training institute. This model assumes that it is the Centers that allow students, teachers and other target groups to update the knowledge demanded in the labor market, and thereby adapt to changing requirements - respond in a timely manner to employers` needs and create educational programs for various target groups in order to provide them with «knowledge, skills and competencies that are needed in the workplace and in which employers are interested; develop new competencies that may be required for employment during working life».


The presented materials of the seminar demonstrated the efficiency and effectiveness of the methodologies and methods used in the submitted projects TuCAHEA, PEOPLE, UNIWORK and COMPLETE.


Summing up the meeting, it is possible to highlight the high activity of the audience which indicates the projects have a positive impact on professional training, the participants agreed with understanding that the effectiveness of modern higher education institutions is possible and supported with the active participation and involvement of the employees themselves in the processes and projects of international level.
