For reference:

European Standards and Guidelines (ESG) were adopted by the Ministers of Education in 2005 on a proposal prepared by the European Association for Quality Assurance of Higher Education (ENQA- European Network for Quality Assurance) in cooperation with the European Union of Students (ESU), the European Association of Higher Education Institutions ( EURASHE) and the European Association of Universities (EUA).

In 2015, the modern version of ESG was approved in Yerevan with the participation of the organizations International Education (Education International-EI), Business Europe (BUSINESS-EUROPE), the European Register of Quality Assurance in Higher Education (EQAR).

The main purpose of ENQA standards and recommendations is to contribute to a common understanding of the quality assurance of education in all countries. Universities and quality assurance agencies use them as a reference guide for external and internal quality assurance systems in higher education.
