An international scientific seminar «Abai: philosophy, poetics, reception» was held in Poland

 

On October 16, 2019, at Abai Center of Kazakh Culture and Science of the Institute of Philology of the Pomeranian Academy in Slupsk (Poland), the International Scientific Seminar for Young Scientists «Abai: philosophy, poetics, reception», dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the great Kazakh poet, thinker and enlightener Abai Kunanbaev, was held.


The special guest of the event was Joanna Nasyrov, assistant to the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the city of Gdansk, who read the greeting of the Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Poland Margulan Baimukhan addressed to the organizers and participants of the seminar. Representatives of the Kazakh Embassy in Poland, as well as the consulates in Gdansk, noted that «with great pride» they took an honorable patronage of the seminar. The event was organized with the support of Abai KazNPU, which was reflected in the personal certificates and programs presented to the participants.


At the opening of the seminar, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Professor Danuta Gerchinska said that scientific cooperation with Kazakhstan and Abai KazNPU already includes several dozen groups who visited the Academy as part of short-term scientific internships and semester studies. In addition, the Double Diploma program is being implemented, thanks to which four students and undergraduates from Abai KazNPU Institute of Philology and Multilingual Education have already received European-style diplomas.


Another guest of the seminar was the director of the Institute of Philology Kristina Kravets-Zlotkovska, who emphasized the great importance and relevance of Abai`s ideas in the modern world, the need for intercultural dialogue. She also noted that Abai`s ideas concern the whole of humanity as a whole, since he raises universal ontological issues in his work.


The head of the Department of Russian Philology at the Institute of Philology and Multilingual Education of Abai KazNPU, professor Galina Nefagina expressed great gratitude for the significant contribution to the creation of such a Center in Slupsk and in the Pomeranian region.


A group of participants from Abai KazNPU, students of the Department of Russian Language and Literature, Zhannat Dauenova, Zarina Kurbanbaeva, Asem Oktambek and Diana Bekizhanova showed a dance in national Kazakh costumes, which caused admiration and a long applause.


The scientific part of the seminar was distinguished by a high level of training. Presentations were made by participants from Russia (Perm), Poland (Poznan, Slupsk) and Kazakhstan (Almaty). On this day, several dozen fragments of Abay`s translations into world languages, including Polish, were heard. Excerpts from the songs «Zhelsіz tүnde zharyk ay» and «Kozimnіn Karasy» were performed by participants from Almaty and Poznan. Professor Kristina Kravets-Zlotkovska advised participants to publish their reports in the scientific journal Polylogue of the Pomeranian Academy in Slupsk.
