29.12.2018 Winter Universiade 2019 in Krasnoyarsk
The XXIX World Winter Universiade 2019 will be held from 2 to 12 March 2019 in the city of Krasnoyarsk.
Universiade - international sports competitions among students, held under the auspices of the International University Sports Federation (FISU). Unlike the four-year Olympic cycle, student competitions are held every two years. To participate in the competition are allowed students aged 17 to 25 years and graduates who have received an academic degree or diploma in the year preceding the competition.
The Universiade program includes compulsory (the list is approved by FISU before the start of the application campaign) and optional (additional) sports, which are determined by the host country, provided that they meet all the requirements of the International University Sports Federation.
The International University Sports Federation has currently approved the following capitals of the World Winter Games - Almaty (Kazakhstan) - 2017, Krasnoyarsk (Russia) - 2019. The history of the XXIX World Winter Universiade 2019 in Krasnoyarsk began in 2012. On January 9, the President of Russia signed an instruction to the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation on the commencement of the implementation of specific measures to prepare Krasnoyarsk for participation in the application campaign.
On November 9, 2013 in Brussels, the FISU Executive Committee decided to hold the Winter Universiade-2019 in Krasnoyarsk. Athletes will compete for 76 sets of awards in 11 sports: biathlon, alpine skiing, curling, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, orienteering, skiing, ice-skating, freestyle, hockey, hockeywith a ball, short track.
